OT Visit Went Well

I've been meaning to post about our OT visit, but with VBS this week, and all the general craziness at our house, I just couldn't gather my thoughts well enough to write a coherent post.

And I still can't.... but I know you are wondering (or at least Hollyanna is) so....

The OT verified that it was sensory processing problems. And she said she can help! We'll be doing a Therapeutic Listening program, which is crazy sounding, but she swears it will work. WC will listen to a CD on some special headphones for 30 minutes twice a day. Somehow this CD will help WC learn to to cope with all her senses and how to deal with that herself and not to flip out and display inappropriate behavior.

And then she thinks we'll be released in 4-6 months. We are so excited!

More later.....

That's great news. We all need different tools to manage different minis and it sounds like you'll fill your tool box at OT!

What a great mom you are!

plus, she couldn't be cuter!

Seems like a good idea to me. I subscribe to the school of thought that what we put in our minds (be it through any of our senses) creates our lives for us. Perhaps the CDs have some sort of hypnotic suggestions for coping with different situations. Let us know if they help.

Good luck hope WC can keep those headphones on for 30 minutes!! Hopefully this is the answer you have been looking for!

Found you from the bargain board....anyway, therapeutic listening was highly recommended to us as well. The parents I spoke with were very thrilled with it. However, we went with Tae Kwon Do for his coordination and it also worked wonders. Good luck! My ds is almost done with one year of OT and he's not "fixed" but doing much better!
