New Release Review: Sunsets at Seaside by Addison Cole

Sunsets at Seaside

Sweet with Heat: Seaside Summers Book #4
by Addison Cole
Publication Date: August 23, 2017
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Sweet Romance

Sweet with Heat: Seaside Summers features a group of fun, flirty, and emotional friends who gather each summer at their Cape Cod cottages. They're sassy, flawed, and so easy to relate to, you'll be begging to enter their circle of friends!

Sunsets at Seaside by Addison Cole is the sweet edition of New York Times bestselling author Melissa Foster's steamy romance novel Seaside Sunsets. The stories and characters remain the same, and convey all of the passion you expect between two people in love, without any explicit scenes or harsh language.

In SUNSETS at SEASIDE...
Jessica Ayers has lived a sheltered life with little more than cello lessons and practices taking up her day. Now a member of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, she escapes the prim and proper symphony to vacation in the Seaside community in Wellfleet, Massachusetts, to determine if she is living life to the fullest or missing it altogether.

For the first time since developing the second largest search engine in the world, billionaire Jamie Reed is taking the summer off. He plans to work from the Cape and spend time with his elderly grandmother--and falling in love is not in his plans.

From the moment Jamie and Jessica meet, the attraction is white-hot. Once-overly-focused Jamie can think of little else than sweet, smart, and alluring Jessica, and Jessica discovers a side of herself she never knew existed. But when Jamie's business encounters trouble and his attorney and best friend intervenes, he proves that the brown-haired beauty is too distracting for Jamie. To make matters worse, it appears that Jessica might not be who she says she is, turning Jamie's life--and his heart--upside down. In a world where personal information is always one click away, Jamie must decide if he should trust his heart or watch the woman he loves walk away.

My review: 4.5 stars!
I adore the Seaside Summers series, and Sunsets at Seaside was another great addition! Having met Jamie in books 1-3, I was excited to see him get his own book. He and his grandmother Vera are such a great pair and it was great to see him meeting a great girl. I liked Jessica from the start and loved how well she fit in with the group of girls. I don't want to spoil any of the fun, but there is a "Thong Thursday" part was a riot and I loved how Jessica rolled with it. I really like the "Sweet With Heat" aspect of the series too-  I think the "sweet" stories are just perfect. They have just the right amount of suggestive heat without being too explicit. Looking forward to the next book in the series!

Blurb:

I should've never agreed to this arrangement...

Thirty days ago, my boss—Mr. Wolf of Wall Street,  came to me with an offer I couldn’t refuse: Sign my name on the dotted line and pretend to be his fiancĂ©e for one month. If I agreed, he would let me out of my employment contract with a “very generous” severance package.

The rules were pretty simple: No intimate kissing, no actual sex. Just pretend to love each other for the press, even though I’ve secretly wanted to knock that sexy smirk off his face since the first day we met.

I definitely didn’t need to think twice about this. I signed my name and started counting down the seconds to when I would never have to deal with his special brand of ass-holery again.

I only made it to one minute...

Tragically, this is only day one
We still have 29 more days to go...

New Release Review: Hooked by Karla Sorensen & Whitney Barbetti

Title: Hooked
Authors: Karla Sorensen & Whitney Barbetti
Genre: Dark Romantic Comedy
Release Date: August 23, 2017

Blurb

X and I were probably doomed from the start.

That’s what happens when you meet in court-mandated group therapy and then try to steal from him to pay off your blackmailing drug dealer. Former drug dealer, thank you very much. I'm turning over a new leaf and all that.

Which is why I should leave him alone.

Except he tempts me to do things I swore I’d stop doing. It’s that whole gruff, grumbly, anti-social thing he has going on. Him, flame. Me, moth. Something about him calls to me, makes the blood hum in my body. And I don't want that feeling to end.

Lucy Connors is straight-up insane.

She looks like a Disney princess and tries my patience in more ways than I thought possible. Besides the fact that I have to save her cute little ass from jail, I can’t quite figure out how to leave her alone. Even when she’s trying her hand at Breaking and Entering. Especially when it's my house she's burglarizing.

Yeah, we were probably doomed from the start.

But that’s the thing about being hooked on something so good, and so bad for you—you don’t walk away when you should.

My review: 4.5 Stars!
Oh my gosh- when I read the author's note at the end of the blurb, I knew this would be a fabulous book: "This book deals with subject matter that is highly improbable, sometimes campy, and definitely illegal. Please don't use it as a guideline for how to live your life, but enjoy nonetheless." I adored both Lucy and X- both flawed and imperfect, yet perfect together. This book was laugh out loud funny, swoony, and sweet. It was a super-fun read and I hope these author collaborate again because they certainly made magic with Hooked!

From the first day I met Racer McKay, I knew our interaction was going to be incredibly brief. First impressions really do matter and unfortunately, I didn’t make a very good one.

At the time, I didn’t think much of it. I was never going to see this man again, right?

Wrong! When I’m met with the opportunity of a lifetime, there is only one man in the state of New York who can assist me. And can you guess who it is?

But what I don’t realize is he needs me just as much as I need him. I have money he’s desperate for, and he holds the key to making my dreams come true.

So, we reluctantly join forces.

Our pranks turn from sarcastic banter, to sexual tension and lust-filled glances. Bickering matches quickly morph into slow burn moments. We’re hot, we’re cold. We push and pull. I need him, I don’t want him. We’re on the verge of combusting with an agreement dangling dangerously between us. Neither one of us can afford to lose one another and yet, we’re finding it quite hard to decipher the line that rests between love and hate.

*Twisted Twosome is a stand alone romantic comedy.

My review: 5 Little Debbie Stars!
This book! Racer! Gah! I adored everything about this book, save for Georgiana's crappy parents. Racer is just perfect and hilarious and loyal, and just EVERYTHING. When I met Georgiana, I was sure I was going to dislike her immensely, but luckily I was so wrong- as I go to know her, I began to love her. The witty banter is spot-on and the slow burn romance is on point. His affinity for Little Debbie snacks is a riot and I love that this has been continued across the Meghan's book! Love love love this book! Although I have loved all of Meghan's books, I have to say that this is my favorite!

Twisted Twosome can definitely be read as a standalone, but features characters from Co-Wrecker and My Best Friend's Ex. They are both great reads as well!

Excerpt:

“Thanks for lunch, I haven’t had a fine peanut butter and jelly sandwich in quite some time.” Racer takes a giant bite from one of three sandwiches I made him. The man can eat; I just want to know where he puts it all. “What is this, crunchy peanut butter?” He looks over the sandwich, studying it intently.

“Yes, it’s crunchy with mixed berry jam.”

He nods and takes another bite. He talks with his mouth full, which for some weird reason makes him oddly adorable. “Nice touch, George. The peanuts add a nice texture.”

“Are you going all food critic on my PB and J skills right now?”

Lifting his shirt, he dabs away some of the sweat that’s collecting on his forehead, beneath his backward hat. His abs flex with the movement, drawing my attention. Each divot calling out to me to touch, to examine . . . to lick.

“I think every human should be judged on their PB and J skills.”

I pull my eyes away from his stomach just in time not to get caught staring. “Why do you think that?”

“Because,” he takes another bite, “I think building a peanut butter and jelly sandwich is in everyone’s repertoire, but only the truly skilled know how to make a proper one. And I want to be friends with the truly skilled.”

“Is that so?” I take a drink of my green tea and study him for a second, watching the way the muscles in his jaw move with each bite and swallow. It’s sexy.

His neck is sexy? Is that possible?

“So where do I land on your scale of sandwich artists?”

He smiles from my term, and I realize how much I adore his boyish charm. Pulling his eyes away from me, he examines one of the sandwiches I made him and starts assessing it. “Good ratio of peanut butter to jelly. Nice choice in bread. The crunch you added has been a pleasant surprise, and the mixed berry jam is fucking delightful.” I giggle from his girly term. “But . . .”

I perk up; there’s a but? “But what?”

He quirks his mouth to the side, almost to say, “Sorry, but you’re not quite perfect.” “The bread, it should have been toasted. Toasting it would have taken you to boss level when it comes to the PB and J.”

“Toasting it?”

He nods and takes another bite. “When you don’t toast a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, the peanut butter and bread form a paste on the roof of your mouth. Even though it tastes good, it can get quite irritating.”

“But I didn’t have a toaster.”

“Rookie mistake.”

“Well, If I knew I was going to be critiqued, I would have sprung for bacon.”

He pauses mid bite and stares at me over his sandwich. “You’re a beast for bringing up the option.”

I polish off the rest of my sandwich and wipe my fingers. “Well, maybe next time you’ll communicate expectations better. I’m not a mind reader, Racer. Frankly, the fact I didn’t make boss level is on you, not me.”

I stand and gather my trash as he stares me down. “Don’t you turn this on me. You didn’t have a toaster. The toaster is what’s key. This is on you, Georgie. This is on you!” he calls out as I make my way to the back, laughing to myself the entire time.

About the Author:

Born in New York and raised in Southern California, Meghan has grown into a sassy, peanut butter eating, blonde haired swearing, animal hoarding lady. She is known to bust out and dance if "It's Raining Men" starts beating through the air and heaven forbid you get a margarita in her, protect your legs because they may be humped.

Once she started commuting for an hour and twenty minutes every day to work for three years, she began to have conversations play in her head, real life, deep male voices and dainty lady coos kind of conversations. Perturbed and confused, she decided to either see a therapist about the hot and steamy voices running through her head or start writing them down. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing... enter her first novel, Caught Looking.

Now you can find the spicy, most definitely on the border of lunacy, kind of crazy lady residing in Colorado with the love of her life and her five, furry four legged children, hiking a trail or hiding behind shelves at grocery stores, wondering what kind of lube the nervous stranger will bring home to his wife. Oh and she loves a good boob squeeze!

Review: Hearts at Seaside (Seaside Summers Book #3) by Addison Cole

Hearts at Seaside

Sweet with Heat: Seaside Summers Book #3
by Addison Cole
Publication Date: July 19, 2017
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Sweet Romance

Sweet with Heat: Seaside Summers features a group of fun, flirty, and emotional friends who gather each summer at their Cape Cod cottages. They're sassy, flawed, and so easy to relate to, you'll be begging to enter their circle of friends!

Hearts at Seaside by Addison Cole is the sweet edition of New York Times bestselling author Melissa Foster's steamy romance novel Seaside Hearts. The stories and characters remain the same and convey all of the passion you expect between two people in love, without any explicit scenes or harsh language.

In HEARTS at SEASIDE...
Jenna Ward is vivacious, spontaneous, and confident--except when she's around the man who stole her heart years earlier, strikingly handsome, quiet, and reliable Pete Lacroux. After years of trying to get his attention and overwhelmed from dealing with her mother's new cougar lifestyle, Jenna's giving up on Peter--and is ready to explore other men.

As the eldest of five siblings, with an alcoholic father to care for, boat craftsman Pete Lacroux always does the right thing and has no time for a real relationship. He's looking forward to seeing his friend Jenna, a welcome distraction who's so sexy and painfully shy that she equally entertains and confuses him.

When Jenna picks up a hard-bodied construction worker, jealousy ignites Pete's true feelings, and he's unable to ignore the desires for Jenna he never realized he had. But Pete's not the quiet guy he appears to be, and his life is anything but conducive to a relationship. Can Jenna handle the real Pete Lacroux--the most alpha male she's ever seen--or will she crack under pressure? And can Pete reclaim the life he once had without tearing apart his family?

My review: 4.5 stars!
Friends-to-lovers is absolutely one of my favorite tropes so I was super-excited to jump into Hearts at Seaside after reading (and loving) the first two books in the series. An added bonus was the comedy of errors that took place between the two main characters- Jenna has been crushing on Pete for years, and just when she decides to move on, Pete decides to do something about the crush he's always had on Jenna. Although both are having some issues with their respective parents, when they are together, they are a great team and very supportive of each other. I adore this group of girlfriends and love what they bring to the stories in this series. I really like the "Sweet With Heat" aspect of the series too-  I thought the "sweet" versions are just perfect. They have just the right amount of suggestive heat without being too explicit. Looking forward to the next book in the series!
