Cover Reveal: The Weight of Life by Whitney Barbetti

Mila

“Don’t let go.” Those were my first words to him, as I hung over the side of a London bridge. The words I would soon say again, in a moment that didn’t involve bridges, but something much more fragile: my heart.

He held onto me for three weeks, in a time when I needed to be held. Needed to connect to someone who understood how loss tunneled unrepentantly through the fabric of your soul.

Although he said he'd stay, we both knew he wouldn't. I had already survived one loss—I didn't know if I'd survive another.

Ames

She spun into my life like a tornado of smiles and chatter and everything else I'd long avoided, with a persistence that I admired, albeit begrudgingly. She broke down each neat wall I’d constructed without even trying. Her presence alone caused me to remember what it felt like to smile, to look forward to what the day would bring.

But it was only supposed to last three weeks.

“Don’t let go,” she’d pleaded.

I’d promised her I wouldn’t—but I would. I didn't have a choice.

Cover Reveal: Beautiful Mistake by Vi Keeland

The #1 New York Times Bestselling author Vi Keeland is back with a brand new standalone, Beautiful Mistake, releasing on July 17th and we have the amazing cover for you today!

Beautiful Mistake
by Vi Keeland
Model: Lucas Barbosa Gil
Photographer: Chuando & Frey
Cover designer: Sommer Stein, Perfect Pear Creative

The first time I met Caine West was in a bar.
He noticed me looking his way and mistakenly read my scowling as checking him out.
When he attempted to talk to me, I set him straight—telling him what I thought of his lying, cheating, egomaniacal ass.
You see, the gorgeous jerk had wined and dined my best friend--smooth talking her into his bed, all along failing to mention that he was married.
He deserved every bit of my tongue-lashing and more for what he'd done.
Especially when that lazy smile graced his perfect face in response to my rant.
Only it turned out, the man I'd just told off wasn't the right guy.
Oops.  My mistake.
Embarrassed, I slunk out without an apology.
I was never going to see the handsome stranger again anyway, right?
That’s what I thought…until I walked into class the next morning.
Well, hello Professor West, I’m your new teaching assistant.
I’ll be working under you…figuratively speaking.
Although the literal interpretation might not be such a bad thing—working under Professor West.
This was going to be interesting…

Review: The Hard Truth About Sunshine by Sawyer Bennett

by Sawyer Bennett

New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett has written her most gripping and poignant tale yet. Provocatively heart-breaking, audaciously irreverent and romantically fulfilling, The Hard Truth About Sunshine exposes just how very thin the line is between a full life and an empty existence.

Despite having narrowly escaped death's clutches, Christopher Barlow is grateful for nothing. His capacity to love has been crushed. He hates everyone and everything, completely unable to see past the gray stain of misery that coats his perception of the world. It's only after he involuntarily joins a band of depressed misfits who are struggling to overcome their own problems, does Christopher start to re-evaluate his lot in life.

What could they possibly learn from one another? How could they possibly help each other to heal? And the question that Christopher asks himself over and over again... can he learn to love again?

He's about to find out as he embarks upon a cross country trip with a beautiful woman who is going blind, a boy with terminal cancer, and an abuse victim who can't decide whether she wants to live or die.

Four people with nothing in common but their destination. They will encounter adventure, thrills, loss and love. And within their travels they will learn the greatest lesson of all.

The hard truth about sunshine...

Warning: This book deals with some tough issues including suicide and sexual abuse.

My review: 5 stars!
Oh wow! This book was so much more than I was expecting. I felt so many emotions as I was reading- sadness, excitement, joy, and devastation. Such a tough journey to read about, but in the end I was smiling and grateful that I read this important story. It's devastatingly beautiful.

Cover Reveal: Bad Penny by Staci Hart

BAD PENNY CR BANNER.jpg

Bad Penny, an all-new romantic comedy standalone from Staci Hart is coming June 15th!

cover-wrap-penny.png

Bad Penny
Author: Staci Hart
Cover Designer: Quirkybird Designs
Photographer: Lauren Watson Perry

Synopsis

Nothing good comes after the third date.
See, date three is the crucial point when things get real, which is exactly why I bounce out the door, twiddling my fingers at whatever poor boy I’ve left behind. Because if I stick around, one of three things will happen: he’ll profess his undying love, he gets weird and stalky, or I’ll go crazy. Like, Sid and Nancy crazy. Like, chase-him-through-the-streets-begging-him-to-love-me crazy.
Seriously, it’s better for everyone this way.
So when I meet Bodie, I figure it’ll be the same as it ever was. It doesn’t matter that he doesn’t put a single string on me. Doesn’t matter that he’s funny and smart and jacked and can play my body like a grand piano. Because even though I’m built for love, love has only carved me up like a Christmas ham.
Resistance is something I can only hang on to for so long, and he has persistence in spades. But my heart isn’t as safe as I want to believe, and neither is his. And the second I ignore my cardinal rule is the second I stand to lose him forever.

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life -- a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can't forget that. She's also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She's been a wife, though she's certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She's also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she's been drinking whiskey. From roots in Houston to a seven year stint in Southern California, Staci and her family ended up settling somewhere in between and equally north, in Denver. My Best Friend’s Ex
by Meghan Quinn
Publication Date: June 1st, 2017
Genre: Contemporary Romance

When I found an eviction notice taped on my apartment door, I had two options: find a comfortable cardboard box to call home, or move in with Tucker Jameson.

Seeing that cardboard makes me feel itchy, I chose the latter. Which shouldn't be that big of a deal since Tucker is one of my good friends. And because he's still pining after his ex-girlfriend and I'm trying to finish my nursing degree, there is nothing to worry about in the romance department, making my last semester an easy one to conquer.

Boy, was I wrong.

Rules are set, dinners are made, conversations are had, and a shirtless, swoony roommate walks around in nothing but a pair of black briefs, ruining me for every other man.

Before I know it, I turn into a panting, lust-filled woman begging for Tucker to kiss me, touch me, and show me exactly what is hiding under those briefs.

But with great orgasms, comes great consequences.

Tucker might be my friend and roommate but he’s also my best friend's ex-boyfriend, making him completely off-limits. At least that's what my brain is telling me, my heart is speaking an entirely different language.

Blog Tour: Chance at Redemption by Samatha Harris

Chance at Redemption (Madison Square #3)
by Samatha Harris
Publication Date:  May 23, 2017
Publisher:  Limitless Publishing

Gwen Stevens had a privileged life until her father spoke three little words that turned her world upside down. “You’re cut off.”

Broke and desperate, Gwen is forced to accept a waitressing job, but this glimmer of hope has a price. As if being a cocktail waitress isn’t bad enough, she has to do it in a dive bar called The Den, and her bad luck doesn’t stop there. She also needs to deal with the new owner, a blue-eyed, self-righteous ass determined to make her life miserable.

Liam Sinclair walked away from the entitlement and obligation his family planned for him, vowing to make his own way in the world…

Adjusting to life as a new business owner, Liam has experienced more than his fair share of setbacks. When his only waitress breaks her leg, his sister takes it upon herself to hire a replacement—a spoiled, self-indulgent hothead with too much makeup and more than enough attitude. Gwen represents the world he’s trying to escape, a world of excess and greed that he was never cut out for.

Appearances can be deceiving, and first impressions aren’t always right…

Despite their apparent differences, the tension between them turns to a fiery passion that neither of them can resist. Together they find balance and learn to appreciate the simpler things in life. But Gwen soon discovers that old habits die hard, and one mistake is all it takes to ruin everything.

Forgiveness must be earned, but even a villain deserves a chance at redemption…

My review: 4 stars!
As I began the book and got to know Gwen, I was really concerned,,, she was such a spoiled brat that I wasn't sure she could be redeemed! Luckily, Samatha Harris did an excellent job with Gwen's journey and by the end of the book I was definitely a fan of Gwen's. Liam was such a great guy, just an all around excellent character. I enjoyed their witty banter and the friendship that developed between them before they explored their romantic attraction.

Although this is book 3 in the Madison Square series, it can definitely be read alone- although I am planning on reading books 1 and 2, I did not have time in schedule to do that before I read Chance at Redemption.

Excerpt:
“What’s this?”
“Uniform,” he said. “If you’re gonna work here you’re gonna have to look the part.”
I held the shirt out in front of me as my face twisted in disgust. It was at least two sizes too big with The Den written in an old timey script that was meant to look like a bottle of Jack Daniels.
“I can’t wear this,” I scoffed.
Liam turned back to his paperwork. “You can and you will.”
I considered showing him my middle finger but thought better of it and turned on my heel heading to the bathroom to change.
As I passed by Sam, I spotted a pair of scissors tucked into a jar of pens by the door. I stopped and held the shirt out in front of me, a wicked smile spread across my face as an idea came to mind.
When I came out of the bathroom, Liam was counting cash at the register when I sauntered up behind him.
“What do you think?” I said showing off my creation by turning in a slow circle so he could get the full effect.
Liam turned his head toward me, his eyes going wide as he took me in. “What the fuck did you do?”
“What? You don’t like it?” I asked, playing coy.
“You destroyed it.” His mouth said ruined but the look in his eyes showed his approval even though he’d never admit it. Every inch of my exposed skin tingled under his gaze sending a current of static across my skin and straight between my thighs. I liked that he was looking, I liked it a lot.
“I improved it.” I cut off both sleeves and the collar so the shirt hung low on my shoulders and gathered the extra fabric in a knot on my hip, for a little bit of midriff action.
“You can’t wear that,” he snapped.

I smiled and reached for a rag to start wiping down the tables. “I can and I will.”

by Carey Heywood
Cover Designer:Hang Le
Release Date: May 25th, 2017

Blurb:

If Finley Reeves is an expert at anything, it’s making mistakes. She proved this true by falling for and marrying the wrong man. Ten years later all she has to show for it is a divorce... and a broken heart.
Needing not only to get away, but also to start over somewhere new, she buys a fixer upper that’s one step away from being condemned. Deciding to tackle this project alone might be her biggest mistake of all.

That is, until Noah Thompson shows up at her front door like a knight in a shining tool belt.

Determined she doesn’t need any help, she pushes him away until he makes her an offer she’d be crazy to refuse.

A fun & sexy Contemporary Romance (age 17+)

My review: 4.5 Stars!
I was so excited to hear that Carey Heywood was starting a new series, and since I am a big fan of home improvement shows, I loved the concept of "Fix Her Up". I really admired Finley for going out on her own and starting over. The fixer upper she purchased was more than I would be able to tackle myself! Luckily, she met super-hot contractor Noah! I loved their friends-to-lovers story and found the slow burn romance to be so enjoyable. It was great to see Noah help Finley "fix" herself as he helped her "fix" her home. Fix Her Up is super swoony and sweet and delightful- an excellent start to a new series!

My review: 4 stars!
Oh my goodness- this book was scorching! Jax really turned out to be so different from my initial opinion of him- although pretty darn rough he turned out to have a heart of gold and be such a sweet, protective guy. I also adored Sky- I felt for her and the situation she found herself in. She was brave and strong. I am sad to see that there is just one more book left in this series but am looking forward to reading it.

Win the game. Lose your heart.

Everyone knows who I am and that I could have any female fan I want. That's supposed to be the "perk" of playing left field for the Boston Renegades. But I don't want just any woman; I want her.

She should be just another face in the crowd, but I can't stop thinking about the one night we spent together-and her look of regret the morning after.

Because Saylor Blackwell is the kind of woman who haunts a man. Smart, sexy as hell, and one of the best managers in the business. She's every ballplayer's dream woman. And I'd do anything to make things right with her.

I'm done sitting on the bench when it comes to Saylor Blackwell. Time to swing for the fences.

My review: 4.5 stars!
I am always "in" when it comes to sports romance, and baseball is my absolute favorite sport, so I was excited to dive into Grand Slam on the airplane on my way to see the Cubs! I absolutely tore through this one- although a bit light on the baseball, it still was such a great romance! Travis Kidd is such a great guy- he is sexy and sweet and had me swooning! His interactions with Saylor's daughter Lucy are ADORABLE and I couldn't get enough of them! An excellent addition to this series!

EXCERPT

Whenever I wake up with a hangover, I often ask myself why I drank so much and promise that I’ll never do it again. That promise is something I’ve been breaking for the past few days, and up until now, I didn’t care.

I had hoped the booze would muddy my memory of last night, but it hasn’t. Every word she said, every expression she had, every punch to my chest to get me out of her apartment is crystal clear. I fucked up, and I don’t even know how. All I know is that the sobs I heard on the other side of Saylor’s door last night were enough to sober my stupid ass up.

For hours, I sat against her door, until a resident suggested I leave or they were going to call the police. If I hadn’t been arrested earlier, I probably would have encouraged them to dial Boston’s Finest. Another man might understand my plight. The woman that I want to be with kicked me out of her house, and while I probably deserved it, I didn’t want to leave until she stopped crying. I didn’t want to be the one to walk away in her time of need.

But as egos go—and believe me, mine is huge—I couldn’t let it get in the way any longer, so I walked my drunk ass back home with my tail between my legs, only to stay up all night while the booze wore off, knowing that I had to live with whatever I’d done to Saylor.

She’s the last person in the world who I want to hurt, and she’s the one person who can save me. Not only from a life behind bars, but from myself. When I’m with her, I’m a different person. The cocky son of a bitch whom everyone is used to doesn’t exist when she’s near me, and frankly, that is the man I like, or at least I used to. It’s easier being a fucking douche. It’s second nature to me and comes with the territory of being named one of the citys most eligible bachelors.

Except when I’m with Saylor, I can be the man who hides in the shadow of that Travis Kidd. I can be the kind of man who doesn’t have to have a one-liner available or wink in order to get a phone number. When I’m with her, life outside of baseball starts to have a meaning, a f$#%ing purpose.
