The Politician is Having a Birthday Party With Store Bought Invitations

Don't you judge me!

Oh, Ashley, how I love thee.

But do you know how many nightmares I have had about putting together birthday parties since your birthday post of August 2007? Your party-planning skills are amazing and I am so impressed with what you put together.

But I just can't do that.

In fact, I was so overwhelmed with birthday-party planning anxiety that poor WC didn't even really have a 2nd birthday party in January. I just decided that I sucked so bad I'd just call a few people and see if they wanted to come over and eat some cupcakes.

But Since P is old enough to be aware of these kind of things, I decided I better work on planning him a party since his bday is in less than 6 weeks.

We had a Sasha Family Roundtable Discussion last night about All Things Birthday, and here's the plan:

A Diego Party!
Place: The Birthday Park (where we had his 2nd and 3rd birthdays, it's basically free and there's tons of crap for the kiddos to play with so I don't have to come up with entertainment on my own)

Menu: $5 Pizzas and cupcakes from whatever store does Diego cupcakes (Sam's? Walmartz? SuperTarget? Homeland? chime in if you know and save me some dreaded phone calls)

Things to Buy at Party Galaxy: All Diego items: tablecloth, napkins, plates, invitations, goodie bags

Done and Done! Now that's how The Sashas throw a party.

wrights IGA for the cupcakes. Pretty sure I saw Diego in their book. That's where I got A's cake and we all know how yummy THAT was! Don't forget the tablecloth clips... 4 for $1 at the Dollar Tree!

I cannot party plan or make invites. I had a major episode when Chandler turned 4 right after Kennedi was born and I was awfully, awfully depressed. I couldn't even walk to the mail box or talk on the phone. DL had to do all of it.

Kennedi will be two on Friday. She is having a cupcake party. I can't "mustard" the strength for anything big like a Diego party!

Happy Birfday Soon, P!

I'm with you on Ashley setting the bar way too high. It's why we had a spend the night deal that my 7 year old planned. He was super happy with it because he felt like he put it together and I was super happy with it because he put it together. It was a win/win situation.

We did the Diego theme for my sons 1st b-day. He has been obsessed with Diego since he first saw him at 7 months old! At Party City they have a Diego background you can buy to "decorate" thats what we used to make it seem like I tried! Hubby was deployed so it wasn't huge. Have a great time planning!

Sounds like good times to me! Parties shouldn't be so much stinkin work. I say throw all the food out on a table, have a few adult beverages, and go do some flips on the monkey bars with the kids.

That's my kind of party.

Party??? We are supposed to give these kids parties? Well, hell that wasn't mentioned in my copy of "Parenting for Dummies" We've never done the themed/friends parties - we usually use birthdays as an excuse to get the fam together. I think your party sounds just fine...and it would more than likely be the route I'd take if I did birthday parties. Luckily for us, Abby tells us she has no friends. :D
