Toddlers & Tiaras: Munchausen by Rhinestone

Have you seen Toddlers and Tiaras?

One part of me wishes I hadn't. And the other, bigger portion of me is addicted to seeing this little slice of life of this crazy subculture called Glitz Pageants. So far I have seen two episodes and I am anxiously awaiting my Tivo picking up some more.

I wish I could take credit for the whole "Munchausen by Rhinestone" thing, but I have to admit I saw it on the TWOP forums yesterday.

So your assignment is to give it a watch and let me know what you think. I personally think these parents are Crazy with a capital C and that they are living vicariously through their admittedly adorable kids. But that's just my opinion.......

I have seen this and I have to admit that I can't keep from watching it! I just can't get over these people and I am trying to figure out why in the world they would do this to their little girls. They are so UNNATURAL.

It will suck you in deeper each time!

LC and I were watching Little Miss Perfect on WE last night (same thing as T&T). We were commenting *that it appears to us* that the majority of "pageant moms" had the same "look" (not so cute and overweight) and socioeconomic status. Yet, they hire coaches, spend $700 to revamp a $1700 dress.

Hello! You could get out of your 2 bedroom house or doublewide if you'd quit the dang pageants!

I'll be doing a post on this soon.

My 9 year old watched it the other night and came running to the bathroom and threw the shower door open in horror. "MOM, they are spray tanning and putting fake teeth on 5 year olds!! Who does that??"

I watched it once and I just have no words.....just Seriously?!?!

A dad made a comment on the first episode that just makes my jaw drop every time I think about it. His 2 y/o was competing and he said "she's learning so many great skills, like blowing kisses and waving hello". Seriously?! Blowing kisses and waving hello--great SKILLS?! And yet, I keep watching...like a terrible accident you can't turn away from!

It's very much like a train wreck... and I love it! I've seen 3 episodes and I can't stop watching. And you know how big that is for me, because I never have time for tv!!
Have you seen the one where the toddler tells her dad to SHUT UP?! I'd hate to see what would happen if Big Sis said that to Mr. Fix-It....

I've got it set to DVR. Can't wait to watch...

I watched it last night too. It was a train wreck but I couldn't stop watching. And I'm sure I'll watch more episodes.

It's like the car wreck thing... I want to turn away from it, but can't! These parents crack me up. Some of them I bet can't afford their rent or other "necessities" and yet they will pay $1000 for a chance to win $500... it's insane yet fascinating at the same time... :-)

I told you before that this show scares the hell out of me.

Pageant moms are more bizarre than dance moms. Totally!
