NYC Post #3

Well, I'm home, and we've got lots to talk about.
Let's start with the most important topic: Pillows.
Why in world do hotels think that people like squishy pillows? I know that I am most likely in the majority when I say I like a pillow with a little firmness to it, but the last 4 hotels I've stayed in had not gotten this message.
The pillows at our hotel in NYC were invisible. At least that's what it felt like when I laid my head upon them and promptly felt the mattress with my ear. Unbelievable.
Typically, when this happens, I rustle up a sofa accent pillow to use under my invisible pillow to mimic some firmness. But we had no sofa, so= no sofa accent pillow!
Also, while we are discussing my Pillow Requirements, king-sized beds need at least 5 pillows on them, everybody knows that! I need a huggie pillow as well as one under my head.
Come on NYC, if everyone loves you so much, why do you have squishy pillows? I'm going to start spreadin' the news- Your pillows suck.

The Benjamin Hotel in NYC has a pillow menu! This hotel is wonderful!

We're heading to NYC next month. I must know what Hotel you stayed at so I don't go there - or will bring my own pillow! I am looking forward to more NYC updates for tips for my trip!

Jill- THANK YOU! I love the Pillow Menu idea! I will be checking into that for sure next time!

Sarah- we stayed at the Overseas International Press Club or something like that. The hubs found it on Priceline and it was very nice- but the pillows were NMS!

Girl, it's not just NYC. Not a single hotel anywhere owns a single firm pillow that doesn't originate on a sofa. Are they always down? I find I always get "luxurious" down pillows which are actually just, like you say, invisible.

Superwoman- I have been noticing this.... if we travel within driving distance, I am all about carting my own pillows in, which drives the hubs ca-razy. Wonder if they count pillows as a carry-on on the plane? :-)

Sasha - I hate super, soft pillows. I like some support under my neck. One of my hotel solutions is to insert a folded-up bath towel (or two) into the back of the squishy pillow's case. It's not perfect, but it helps.
Glad you had a good trip, otherwise!

This is just something that would bug the snot out of me. It is enough to make me pack my floppy 15 year old pillers on the plane to infect everyone with allergies and dust mites.

I can't sleep without pillows that work.

UGH.

I hope you are having fun otherwise!
