You'll Never Believe This

but I just ran 8 miles. In 1:20:20. (including 7 one minute breaks)

Holy carp. It was super-cold and I had freezer burn (frostbite?) on two fingers when I got back. Really- two fingers were bright white from the knuckle up and I wasn't sure what to do about that, but I keep moving them around and the problem seem to right itself after about 20 minutes in my 70 degree house.

Proof positive that anyone, literally anyone, can learn to run.

Right now I am listening to Undomestic Goddess on my ipod and loving it. Seriously- my hour and 20 minute run flew by because I was listening to an awesome book.

Hope you guys had a great weekend! Smooches!

Congrats! I got a treadmill for the house, so I think I am going to try the Couch to 5K again. I hate running though!

Congrats! I'm going to start the C25K soon. I keep saying that, but really, I am. I swear. Soon.

btw... the word verification I need to type in for this comment is frogerap. I thought that was funny.

Good on ya! I did 1.5+ miles in 30 minutes yesterday. Walking. Go me. *eyeroll*

Wow.. I'm definitely impressed. I can barely run 3 minutes without stopping. I don't know what I'm going to do when I have to run whole miles. I've noticed that music REALLY helps. I tried watching TV, but it wasn't distracting enough.

That's awesome! I could never do that!

You ROCK.

Please don't lose any fingers. It would really be hard to count things in multiples of 8 instead of 10, ya know?

Yeah! God for you. I'm inspired.

I used to run outside year round, but I just can't muster the motivation to go out in the cold, and you know I'd never go 8 miles on the treadmill out of sheer boredom.

I've never tried running with books on the ipod -- only music -- but now you've motivated me to give it a try.

Oh I so wish I could learn to run--I've tried but it didn't work. How did you do it?

Sasha,

That is awesome! I wanted to let you know that I am forever grateful to you. You inspired me to start C25K Jan 2008 when my son was 6 months old. Since then, I have lost over 30 pounds, run in tons of 5Ks and 10Ks, and am now training for my first half marathon in April. I ran 9 miles yesterday without stopping. This from someone who couldn't even run 1 minute when I started.

I feel great about myself and am thinner than I have been in 9 years and I really feel like I owe it to you. So, thanks so much for all your encouragement!

How do you do it? I seriously can't run. I don't think my legs were made to do it. The shin pain is just too much. I went to the fancy running store, bought the $$$ shoes they told me to buy, but the pain is still there.

Congrats to you though!

WAY TO GO YOU! You'll do awesome in the half. We're training for one here in T-town in May. Keep us updated and keep up the grand work!
