Target Head of the Class Beauty Box Review

Target Head of the Class Beauty Box
(currently sold out)

This summer Target was offering some themed beauty boxes, and I chose to order two of them- the Honor Roll Beauty Box, and the Head of the Class Beauty Box. These always sell out quickly and are full of fun products to try.
Here is what the Head of the Class Beauty Box contains:

  • Goody Ouchless Elastics- More! Again, I am finding myself short on hairbands since my daughter uses them too now, so we can never have too many.
  • Bathery Pumice Stone- It may be hard to believe, but I have never owned a pumice stone. Looking forward to giving this a try on my heels in the shower.
  • Hollywood Fashion Tape- Again, something I have never owned, but will probably come in handy sometime, you know, with all that dressing up and going out I do. I kid, kid.
  • CoverGirl Colorlicious Lip Gloss- I am not usually a gloss girl, but this is a shimmery peach called Give Me Guava that might look pretty over some of the stains I have.
  • Wet N Wild Max Volume Plus Mascara- I currently have mascara coming out my ears, so I will probably pass this on to a friend.
  • Herbal Essences Wild Naturals Illuminating Dry Oil Spray- My hair is at the maxium level of shininess naturally, so this can also be passed to a friend. I have read that this smells fantastic, just like summer.
  • Yes To Cucumbers 10–Count Wipes- This little packet of wipes is so darling, and I think I will put it in my purse to use as hand wipes.
I have seen the value of this box placed at just over $25, and with a pricetag of just $5, it was a great buy!

Target Honor Roll Beauty Box

(currently sold out)

This summer Target was offering some themed beauty boxes, and I chose to order two of them- the Honor Roll Beauty Box, and the Head of the Class Beauty Box. These always sell out quickly and are full of fun products to try.

Here is what the Honor Roll Beauty Box contains:

  • Burt's Bees White Tea Facial Wipes. This little packet contains 10 wipes and will be nice for travel.
  • Bathery Delicate Pouf. I usually go for the cheapie $1-2 pouf, but this is a really nice one that feels thicker than what I typically purchase.
  • CoverGirl Outlast All-Day Primer. This is a full-sized product!
  • NYX Butter Gloss Strawberry Parfait. Again, a full-sized product. I'm not much of a gloss fan, so I will pass this on to a friend.
  • Goody Ouchless Elastics. We are forever loosing ponytail holders at our house (where do they go?????), so it was nice to get a some new ones.
  • Olay White Strawberry Body Wash. A great size for travel and this smells yummy.
  • John Frieda Luxurious Volume 7-Day Treatment.  I am excited to try this- it is supposed to give results that last through multiple washings

I have seen the value of this box calculated to be about $26, and that's a great value for a box with a price tag of just $5.

Target Summer 2015 Beauty Box

Target Beauty Box- Summer 2015

Target has been offering seasonal beauty boxes over the last year or so and this one was recently offered (and sold out). I am so glad I was able to purchase one!

Target Beauty Box
Price: $7 (one time purchase)
Contains:
.
I came up with a value of just above $40, and I'm super happy with this box. There was also a coupon for $3 off a $15 beauty purchase at Target.
.
The box contained three full-sized products (eye cream, lipstick, and nail polish) that I will definitely be trying. I will definitely use the nail polish remover pads for travel, and may give the hair mist a try.
.
If you like sample boxes like me, the Target Beauty Boxes are great to try because there is no commitment since there is no subscription. It's also nice that you know what you are getting when you place your order! These boxes have been selling out, so be sure and purchase it when you see it next time if you are interested.

Target Beauty Box- Spring 2015

Target Beauty Box- Spring 2015

Target has been offering seasonal beauty boxes over the last year and this one was offered (and sold out the same day!) a few weeks ago. I am so glad I was able to purchase one.

The box contained two full-sized products (lip gloss and makeup setting spray) that I will definitely be trying. My skin is a bit oily for the gel cream, but it's always nice to have travel sizes of shampoo and hair spray.

Target Cyber Monday 2014 Beauty Box

On Cyber Monday, Target offered a few special Beauty Boxes, and I purchased both the "For Her" and the "For Him" box. (These went fast and are sold out.) I have had great luck with their seasonal beauty boxes, and I hoped the Cyber Monday boxes would be just as great. Today let's look closer at the contents of the For Her box. I paid $10, and Target offered free shipping on the box. Spoiler: I think it was a great deal!

clockwise from top left:
  • Boots No7 Protect & Perfect Advanced Serum- sample packet
  • Revlon HD Lip Lacquer in Garnet- full-size; retail: $8
  • Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen in Black- deluxe sample
  • L'Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Intenza Mascara in Black- full-size; retail: $9
  • CoverGirl Eye Enhancers Quad in Smokey Nudes- full-size; retail: $4.50
  • ChapStick Total Hydration Lip Balm in Sweet Peach- full-size; retail: $3
  • Laneige Water Sleeping Mask- deluxe sample jar
  • Clairol Hair Food Thickening Solution- full-size; retail: $12
Overall, I am impressed with the value! Not taking into account the deluxe samples and sample packet, this box had full-sized products in it with a value of $36.50! It's a great way to try new products. The mascara and lip gloss are the two products I am most excited to try.

Fall 2014 Target Beauty Box

In the past, Target offered a free seasonal beauty bag with some really nice samples. Recently, they began offering the Target Beauty Box as a one-time-purchase box. It looks like it will be available a few times a year for $7. I just received mine and wanted to tell you about it because it's still available and Target is offering free shipping on every order right now! (But be sure you go through Ebates- they offer 2.5% on Target purchases.)

Target Beauty Box
Price: $7 (one time purchase)
Contains:
  • Elnett Extra Strong Hold Hairspray (value for 2.2 oz- $6.70)
  • Fekkai Professional Blowout Hair Refresher Dry Shampoo (value for 1.7 oz- $8)
  • NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil (value for .18 oz full-sized product- $4.50)
  • L'Oreal Colour Riche Extraordinaire Lipstick (value for .18 fl oz full-sized product- $8)
  • Laneige BB Cushion Sample (3 samples in 3 shades) (value for one .07 oz sample- $4.75)
close-up shot of three samples of Laneige BB Cushion sample

I came up with a value of about $32, and I'm super happy with this box. There was also a coupon for $3 off a $15 beauty purchase at Target, but they also printed that in this past Sunday's circular.

I have always wanted to try Elnett Hairspray, and can always use another dry shampoo. I will definitely use the eye pencil because I've been wanting to try highlight the inner corner of my eye, and this will be perfect for that. I am also excited to try the Laneige BB Cushion sample- I love that they included all three shades so I can try the shade that works best for me.

The only product I am a bit disappointed in is the L'Oreal lippie- the shade I received is Nude Ballet and I normally don't wear that shade of lip color. I did give it a try and I did like the formula though- it was really moisturizing, yet didn't run outside my lip line like most glosses do.

If you like sample boxes like me, this is a great one to try because there is no commitment since there is no subscription. It's also nice that you know what you are getting when you place your order!

Alice in Wonderland eos lip balm

Are you a fan of eos lip balm? WC and I are, especially the lemon

I was in Target last week and spied the cutest Alice in Wonderland set with three balms for $8 on an endcap near the pharmacy. How adorable is the Mickey silhouette on the side?

Here's the front of the package.

The three flavors are new and Alice-themed: Blueberry Potion (my favorite), Watermelon Wonderland (2nd favorite), and Sweet Vanilla Nonsense.

When you open the package, behind the balms is this adorable scene and phrase: "Very few things indeed were really impossible."

Here's a close-up pic I took of the Alice graphic detail. Isn't that adorable?

I would assume this set is limited-edition. Have you seen this set in your stores yet?

$5 off $50 at Target w/ Shopkick Coupon

Ever behind the times, I just discovered the Shopkick App yesterday and saved $5 off $50 at Target just by having the cashier scan the a bar code from the app on my phone!

Here's how the free app (available on both Andriod and iPhone) works: When you open the app on your way into a participating store like Target, it automatically recognizes you. You can then earn points called “kickbucks” for entering the store and for fun stuff like scanning select bar codes while you are there (you should have seen me doing this- it was fun!). Kickbucks can be redeemed for different rewards (including Target gift cards). You will sometimes also get scannable Target Coupons like the $5 off $50 which you can redeem at checkout. The current $5 coupon is available until 5/26.

If you are new to Shopkick and sign up thru this link, we'll both get 50 Bonus Kicks. Holler if you have any questions. One tip: Don't activate the $5 off $50 coupon until you are at the register- it will expire 12 hours after you tap "use".

Kisses to Buford Betty!

Buford Betty, I am giving you big smooches today! You are my fashion hero!

I wear black slacks and dress shoes most days to work, so I am always on the lookout for a cute, comfy shoe with some sort of heel- being only 5'2", I need a little height. And last March I posted about my latest find, the Madden Upskale pump.

They are absolutely darling and so so comfy. I love the little ruffle and think it gives it a little "something".

Last week Buford Betty posted about some of her baby shower outfits (yay for the soon-to-arrive Buford Betty Baby!), and LOOK LOOK LOOK, she found the same shoe, called Sondra Ruffle, at Target in PEWTER! And RED! AND ONLY $20!!!!!!!

I am sure it goes without saying to say that I ordered them. In two colors.

They arrived last night and fit PERFECT and are exactly like the $50 Maddens. So today I am sporting the Pewter ones along with a company grey cardi and I look FAB. Well, as fab as you can look in company garb.

So I just wanted to give Buford Betty a big shout-out and pass on this fabulous find.

One quick on-line shopping note: Ebates offers 3% back for shopping at Target, so be sure and start your shopping there. And if you are new to Ebates, we'll each get a sign-up bonus of at least $5. (Disclosure: The link to Ebates is a referral link.)

Pixi Lumi Lux Radiance Powder Review

Are you using your "Summer" makeup? I am, for the first time, really getting into bronzers and powders that add that sun-kissed glow to my skin.

I was excited to receive the Pixi Lumi Lux Radiance Powder to review. It retails for $26 at Target.

The design of Pixi products is always so cute- this is a slide-out powder.

However, you can see the downside to this--- I nicked the flower with my fingernail when I was opening it to photograph- see the part of the flower right by the P in Pixi?

I tried to swatch the powder on my skin, but it's so natural, it's hard to see! So here's a swatch on a cotton pad.... it's a nice rosy peach.

Per Target,

This silky, all-over illuminating powder palette adds light, radiance and
luminosity to the skin and creates an angelic sheen. It's ideal for
counteracting tired skin as an instant pick-me-up on cheekbones and
eyes.

I used a skunk brush to swirl the colors together and applied like I would a bronzer.... to my temples, cheekbones, and nose. I followed with my normal blushes and loved the look.

If you are looking for a new illuminating powder to add some radiance to your face, this would definitely be perfect!

Pixi Nude Shade Wardrobe

I recently had the opportunity to try out a fabulous product from Petra Strand's line Pixi, carried at Target. Petra is a makeup artist and mom, and she created the line of multipurpose products "to help busy women look like themselves, only more gorgeous."

Who can argue with that?

I tried the Nude Shade Wardrobe, and it is actually the second Pixi product I have tried, and both times I have been impressed with both the quality and value. Even though at first glace this product might seem expensive at $26 (currently on sale online for $22), once you realize that the left side can be used as a blusher, and the right side is 9 individual eye shadows, it's actually quite a good value and great for travel.

The nude shades worked perfectly for me to do a day-time eye for work, and I found the blusher to be very flattering for my somewhat pale skin.

In this photo I took, you can also see the embossing on several of the color blocks- it adds a fancy touch.

In this video, Petra shares some tips and shows how she uses the product.

Is Your Makeup Ready for Summer?

Pixi Lumi Luxe Bronze Palette ($25 at Target)

I have been doing quite a bit of experimenting with blush recently, and since I am pretty pale, I am finding that a bronzer works great for my skintone as a blush.

I had never tried Pixi products, but thought this was a beautiful item and was excited to try it. It's a bit shimmery, and leaves a gorgeous glow on my cheeks. I tried (and loved!) the outer edges (on separate days) first as I felt they would be the easiest to wear. I'll try the middle of the palette on my next night out (when will that be?).

Disclosure: This item was provided to me by a PR firm for review purposes.

Target, how cool!

I managed to remember to take in my reusable shopping bag to Target today, and I got a little surprise!

As of last Saturday, they take 5 cents off your total for each reusable bag you bring in and use!

Love that.....

Target Find

How cute is this Merona Scoop Neck Bow Tee from Target? It's only $7.99 and super-cute on! I picked up white and brown the other day and I can't wait to wear them with capris to work.

If you happen to be petite and small-boned like me, I also found something really cool- I can wear an XL in some of the kids shirts and they fit great. These are cheaper in the store, I think, (like 3.99 or 4.99) so I picked up about 4 different colors.
