Stop Ghosting MeStop Ghosting Me by Tara Sivec
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Trick or Treat! I had zero doubt that author Tara Sivec would deliver a holiday romance full of absurdity and hilarity, and she certainly smashed that pumpkin! Stop Ghosting Me was a delight and I laughed out loud throughout. The antics of the crazy Tanner family and friends were hilarious perfection. Sivec's sense of humor is always spot-on for me!

New Release Review: Spare Me (Summersweet Island #6) by Tara Sivec

Spare Me
Summersweet Island #6
By Tara Sivec
Release Date: July 25, 2022

Ryan Hutton has spent his entire life being the shy, nerdy, rule-following nice guy on Summersweet Island. He’s the high school bowling coach and algebra teacher, who’s always predictable, and he’s always been fine with that. At least until a sexy nutjob gives him the best kiss of his life in his favorite pizza place. Suddenly, he doesn’t like being the quiet, obedient nice guy anymore.⁣

When Danica Brewster first set foot on this beautiful island a few days ago, she just wanted a place to call home—far, far away from her family. A place where she could be wild and free without their judgment. When she finds out her new roommate is the stranger she kissed for free pizza, Danica knows this is a complication she definitely doesn’t need in her life right now.⁣

However, the memory of that kiss is making them 𝘣𝘰𝘵𝘩 act out of character. Ryan and Danica soon realize you can’t ignore your problems and hope they’ll go away. Those problems will just come back with a vengeance, tossing everything into the gutter.⁣

It doesn’t make sense for a nerd to fall in love with a nutjob, but with the magic of Summersweet Island, anything is possible... especially if you have enough balls.⁣

My review: 5 stars! A Strike!

Nobody does romantic comedy like Tara Sivec- her special brand of absurd hilarity was just what I needed this week and Ryan and Danny were perfection! The bowling puns were such a hoot, and I always love catching up with the other couples on Summersweet Island. (If you haven't read the first 5 books you must, simply because they are all fantastic and meeting everyone in this group is a wild and crazy ride!) I am so hopeful for another book in the series- I just can't get enough!

Holiday Review: Dashing Through the No by Tara Sivec

Dashing Through the No by Tara Sivec
Summersweet Island #3

‘Twas the week before Christmas and all through Summersweet,
Tess Powell was annoyed and wanted to retreat.
With a BIC in her hand and a frown on her face,
everyone knew she needed a break from this place.
Wanting the holiday to be nothing but the best,
Bodhi took his girlfriend to the mountains to rest.
While visions of fire happily danced in Tess’s head,
soon she would see she had everything to dread.
Crying kids, singing hippos, and a stalker with a van,
definitely wasn’t part of Bodhi’s evacuation plan.
But all he wanted for Christmas was for her to say yes,
to the question he kept asking with zero finesse.
With some help from new friends and their holiday cheer,
Tess and Bodhi get much more
than they asked Santa for this year.

My review: 5 Holiday Stars!
Sometimes you just need absurd comedy to get you through life, and Tara Sivec never fails to deliver. Her brand of rom-com is so fun- it's sexy, sassy, and always hilarious. It was fun to see Tess and Bodhi, who we met in the first two Summersweet books, travel to Christmas Cliche-land and meet Allie, Jason, and best of all, Millie. This book was the perfect distraction during the busy, stressful holiday season. Such a delight!

New Release Review: Swing and a Mishap by Tara Sivec

Swing and a Mishap (Summersweet Island #2)
by Tara Sivec
Release Date: September 27, 2020

“Hawks fans still in shock after centerfielder, Shepherd Oliver, sustained season-ending injury last night in the 5th inning of the playoffs against Chicago.”

Two years ago, I was a pretty big deal. I thought I had it all, until a blast from my past popped up on my social media feed, keeping my ego in check and reminding me how basic I am. Except sassy Wren Bennett isn’t just a blast from my past. She’s the only woman I ever saw a future with.

Even though my soul leaves my body every time she says she hates baseball and has never watched me play, a year’s-worth of messages filled with laughter and sarcasm only remind me how amazing my “pen pal” is. Unfortunately, it doesn’t matter how fine I look in a pair of baseball pants; I’m still 3,000 miles away, and she’s taken... or so I thought. Maybe I should have thought a little harder before I dropped her like a seeing-eye single into the outfield.

When an injury has me questioning everything about my life, I can only think of one place I need to go and one person I need to see. Home, to Summersweet Island, to get back my “pen pal.”

Now I just need to make sure single mom Wren knows I didn’t come back for a change, and I didn’t come back for a job. I’m swinging for the fences, and I’m finally coming home to make her mine. If only she’d stop insulting me and stay in one place long enough for me to tell her. She wouldn’t try to drown me with a tub of ice cream, right?

I’m sure it’ll be fine.

My review: 5 stars!

Tara Sivec's rom-coms (heavy on the comedy!) are zany and over the top and always so much fun. As an avid major league baseball fan, I was so excited that our hero Shepherd was an retired-centerfielder-turned-high-school-coach. Shepherd is absolute perfection- even with fame and money, he's still a down to earth local guy pining for the girl he fell in love with as a teenager. And surprise- the object of his affection, Wren, has been pining for him all this time as well. Swoon! Wren's son Owen is a delightful high school freshman (they make those????) and I enjoyed him so much. As always, Sivec's secondary characters are a hilarious bunch- their antics are a hoot and their dialog is so clever. I am sure Swing and a Mishap would read well as a standalone, but Kiss My Putt is so flippin' good that it simply must be read as well, so as to not miss all the fun. Looking forward to First and Tension (and I LOVE these titles!).

New Release Review: Kiss My Putt by Tara Sivec

by Tara Sivec
Release Date: July 24, 2020
⛳️ Sports rom com⁣
❤️ All the feels⁣
🏖 Small town/island⁣
👩‍❤️‍👨 Friends-enemies-lovers ⁣
🏌🏻‍♂️ Hot golfer in tight pants⁣
📚Can be read as a standalone

“Palmer ‘Pal’ Campbell has epic breakdown on the 18th hole of the Bermuda Open! Video at 11.”

After spending my entire pro golfing career being known as the quiet, controlled, no-nonsense golfer on the tour, there’s nothing more humiliating than throwing all of that down the drain—or into a water hazard—on national television. Needing some place to hide, to lick my wounds and figure out what I even want to do with my life once this blows over, I can only think of one place I need to be. Summersweet Island, where everyone treats me like one of their own, and they’ll all be happy to have me home again.

Well, except maybe one person. It’s been two years since I last set foot on Summersweet Island or spoke to anyone there. But I’m sure Birdie Bennett, my best friend since I was 15 and the clubhouse manager of my favorite golf course, has had plenty of time to forgive me for that tiny little misunderstanding where I blocked her on social media and blocked her in my phone. Oh, and I guess I kind of, sort of accused her of being a stalker. It’s fine!

Once my sexy, spunky, former best friend gets over the shock of seeing me again and stops trying to drive a 9-iron into my skull, I can finally let her know I’ve also kind of, sort of always been in love with her...

My review: 5 stars!
Every now and then a book with the most absurd, hilarious premise comes up on my radar, and what do I do? Jump on it and dive right in! Tara Sivec's golf course rom-com (yes, that's right!) is such a hoot! I can always count on her books to have me dying laughing and swooning hard. Birdie and Palmer were a breath of fresh air and I loved their combustible chemistry. Best friend Tess and caddie Bohdi were a riot and I certainly hope we get to see more of them in books to come in the series. Kiss My Putt was zany and and over the top and I loved every single word.

"Oh, I'm sorry. Did you say you were happy? LOLOLOLOL!" ~ Life

She misses her family, she misses the farm, and she misses having a backbone and caring whether or not the stain on her shirt is chocolate or shit. She works from home doing transcription. Does she really need to shower or leave the house?

Baker Matthews has been bringing everyone down lately with his grouchy attitude. His job is stressful and sometimes depressing, but he wouldn't change anything about it. When a glitch with the transcription company he's using mistakenly sends him notes he wasn't supposed to see, Baker finds himself laughing out loud for the first time in months.

He's never met a woman who says whatever she's thinking and doesn't fawn all over him when she finds out what he does for a living. Until Ember Hastings comes barreling into his life, calling him Shit Mouth and asking if he has any balls.

But she wants to keep this professional. She made him pinky swear, and you don't mess around with pinky swears. Baker will have to get creative if he wants to prove to Ember that he's just her type.

My review: 5 stars!
Oh how I love Tara's brand of absurd romantic comedy! This book will both having you swooning for Baker and Ember's growing relationship and laughing out loud with their wacky antics. (The hedgehog- you MUST read!) It was such a joy to read and brought a smile to my face. The witty banter is on point, and every character except Ember ex is fabulous and fun. The chemistry between Baker and Ember was off the charts, but I did enjoy that their relationship was a bit of a slow burn. Made it even sweeter in the end!

My review: 4.5 stars!

Tara Sivec is the Queen of Absurd Romantic Comedy (it's a thing!) and she has done it again with her third installment in The Naughty Princess Club series. I don't know how she comes up with such hilarity (#DerrickAlfredo) but her books always leave me in stitches. I love how Kiss the Girl brought the whole gang together for beautiful happy endings- what a great series wrap up!

New Release Review: In Bed with the Beast by Tara Sivec

(The Naughty Princess Club Book 2)
By Tara Sivec
Release Date: June 5, 2018

A tale as old as time: she needs a place to stay, he's a grump with a secret and an extra room...can love find a way?
Meet the Naughty Princess Club, a series from USA Today bestselling author Tara Sivec that brings readers to Fairytale Lane and the hilarity—and romance—that three women fall into once they decide to strut their stuff and bring on their own happily ever after.

Living in her overprotective dad’s basement, shy Belle lives her life through books. Being a part of the Naughty Princess Club is the first adventure she’s ever had, plus she desperately needs the money to save one of her favorite places - the local library.

But when her new friends and new business gets her kicked out of her dad’s house, Belle is rescued by the surly Vincent “Beast” Adams who invites her to be his house guest until she gets back on her feet. Despite his attitude problem and long list of rules, Belle finds herself warming to the muscled man with a penchant for growling and starts seeing a gentle side to him that wasn’t there before.

Yet there’s a room that Beast keeps locked and Belle keeps getting hints that Beast is hiding something…can a nerdy librarian tame the beast or will their romance be over before it has a chance to blossom?

My review: 5 stars!
Tara Sivec is the queen of what I call absurd romantic comedy, and In Bed with the Beast is my favorite of all her novels! She does hilarious so well! Opposites attract can be such a fun trope and Belle and Beast fit this mold perfectly. I adore how she ties in the princess stories in this series- Belle's last name is Reading and Beast's nickname suits him quite well. And what's in the mysterious room he keeps locked? It's all so good! Absolutely delightful.

Review: The Pumpkin Was Stuffed by Tara Sivec

by Tara Sivec
Publication Date: April 3, 2018
Price: $2.99

Originally published as part of the USA Today bestselling anthology Eye CandyThe Pumpkin was Stuffed is another hilarious installment in USA Today bestselling author Tara Sivec’s outrageous series!

The Holiday family is together one last time for Halloween! As Sam and Noel prepare for their upcoming life with a new baby, their crazy family and friends pull out all the tricks and treats and jack-o’-lanterns to make sure this ghostly holiday is one to remember…or, like the last few holidays they’ve celebrated together, one they’d rather forget.

My Review of THE PUMPKIN WAS STUFFED by Tara Sivec:

4.5 stars! I am a big fan of Tara Sivec's Holiday series, so I couldn't wait to read the Halloween installment of their antics. Tara's sense of humor is spot-on and the Holiday family is back with their trademark absurd antics. I was laughing out loud from the beginning, but whenever I see shouty capitals, I know I am going to choke. Absolutely choke! What a riot! I hated to read that Tara was gathering "the Holiday family together one last time"..... I need more!

Excerpt from THE PUMPKIN WAS STUFFED by Tara Sivec:

“It’s a Halloween wedding, and you’re wearing a costume,” Scheva growls.
“You said this was a meeting to discuss any final changes to the outfits. Well, I’m making a final change. I’m NOT wearing the costume you picked out for me,” Noel argues.
“You will wear it and you will like it!”
“You made me a cardboard box you expect me to wear, painted like an oven, with a picture of a baby inside that rests right over my stomach. YOU’RE COOKING A BABY!” Noel screams.
“IT’S A BUN IN THE OVEN, AND IT’S CUTE!”
“IT’S NOT A BUN IN THE OVEN. IT’S AN ACTUAL BABY IN THE OVEN. BABIES DO NOT GO IN OVENS!”
“DON’T PISS ME OFF OR I’LL MAKE YOU WEAR THAT FLUORESCENT-GREEN TAFFETA MATERNITY PROM DRESS WITH THE GIANT PUFFY SLEEVES I FOUND AT GOODWILL!”
“You wouldn’t!” Noel fires back, attempting to push herself up from the couch, her belly getting in the way and making her fall back to the cushions five times. I sit next to her and do nothing but watch.
I could be a gentleman and help her up from the couch, but then I’d just be convicted of aiding and abetting when Noel finally gets to her feet, charges Scheva, and chokes her to death.
Noel finally manages to push herself up from the couch and waddles over to Scheva, getting right in her face.
“I’m NOT dressing up as an oven.”
“Yes, you are. I already bought Sam’s chef costume so you two match, and it’s too late to change the entire theme of your matching costumes,” Scheva argues.
“I’m dressing up as a slutty witch, or a slutty kitten, or a slutty devil, just like I do every year, and you’re not going to stop me!”

New Release Review: The Stroke of Midnight by Tara Sivec

by Tara Sivec
Release Date: February 27, 2018

Meet the Naughty Princess Club: a brand new series from USA Today bestselling author Tara Sivec that introduces readers to Fairytale Lane and the hilarity—and romance—that ensue when three women start a new business to make it rain.
Once upon a time Cynthia was the perfect housewife. Between being the President of the PTA and keeping her home spotless without a hair (or her pearls) out of place, her life was a dream come true. Her husband was once her knight in shining armor, but now he’s run off with all their money…and the babysitter.
Dressed as a princess at the annual Halloween block party on Fairytale Lane, she meets two other “princesses” also facing money troubles: antique store owner Ariel and librarian Isabelle. When the women are invited to wear their costumes to a party where they’re mistaken for strippers, Cindy, Ariel, and Belle realize that a career change could be the best way to make their money problems go bippity-boppity-boo.
But can structured Cindy approach a stripper pole without sanitizing wipes? And could the blue-eyed anti-prince that has been crossing her path become Cindy’s happily ever after? At the Stroke of Midnight is a hilarious, empowering story where princesses can save themselves while slaying in stilettos.

My review: 4 Stars
When you read a RomCom by Tara Sivec, you are guaranteed to be in for a wild ride. She's the queen of raunchy, and so so good at character development. I had so much fun reading The Stroke of Midnight and am looking forward to the rest of the series. Tara Sivec never disappoints!

New Release Review: Wish You Were Mine by Tara Sivec

by Tara Sivec
Release Date: November 14, 2017

From the USA Today bestselling author of The Story of Us and Fisher's Light comes a new, standalone novel---a heartwrenching story about first loves and second chances that will make you fall in love all over again....

Five years. I would've stayed away longer if I hadn't received the letter. Not a day has gone by that I haven't thought about her, haven't missed her smile, haven't wished that things were different.

The last time I saw my two best friends, I vowed to not stand in the way of their happiness, even if that meant I couldn't be a part of their lives. Cameron James and her emerald-green eyes were too much of a temptation and I couldn't stay and watch them together. Cameron deserved better than me. She deserved him.

But now that I am back, things are different. I'm not going to stand by and watch the woman I've always loved slip away again. I'm done living my life with regrets and I'm ready to tell her the truth. And I'll do whatever it takes to show her that I always wished she was mine.

My review: 4 stars
I love Tara Sivec so much- her Holiday family series is flat-out hilarious and I have thoroughly enjoyed every single installment. But I had not yet read anything serious by her so I was excited for Wish You Were Mine because I always enjoy a bit of angst in my romance novels. The author did an excellent job with this friends to lovers story- I loved the flashback scenes and getting to see the history the characters had with each other. The epilogue though- perfection! Such a great ending!
