New Release Review: The Weight of Life by Whitney Barbetti

I am so excited to announce that I have a signed paperback of The Weight of Life by Whitney Barbetti up for grabs on my Facebook page! I would love it if you would enter!

Weight of Life by Whitney Barbetti
Release Date: June 28, 2017
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Mila

“Don’t let go.” Those were my first words to him, as I hung over the side of a London bridge. The words I would soon say again, in a moment that didn’t involve bridges, but something much more fragile: my heart.

He held onto me for three weeks, in a time when I needed to be held. Needed to connect to someone who understood how loss tunneled unrepentantly through the fabric of your soul.

Although he said he'd stay, we both knew he wouldn't. I had already survived one loss—I didn't know if I'd survive another.

Ames

She spun into my life like a tornado of smiles and chatter and everything else I'd long avoided, with a persistence that I admired, albeit begrudgingly. She broke down each neat wall I’d constructed without even trying. Her presence alone caused me to remember what it felt like to smile, to look forward to what the day would bring.

But it was only supposed to last three weeks.

“Don’t let go,” she’d pleaded.

I’d promised her I wouldn’t—but I would. I didn't have a choice.

My review: 5 Stars!
Oh my gosh, I loved this book so much! It was so perfectly emotional, the characters were so well-developed and SO REAL and Whitney Barbetti does dialog so well- I just can't say enough good things. The Weight of Life was just beautifully written- it was flawless!

I like nachos and champagne and clean sheets. I spend far too much time at Starbucks. I wrote a couple books

Coming Soon: Rookie Move by Sarina Bowen

COMING SEPTEMBER 6th: A sexy new hockey series from Sarina Bowen.

I am a BIG fan of Sarina Bowen's Ivy Years series! In fact, I listed the first book in the series, The Year We Fell Down, in a favorites post a few months ago. In the last book in that series, The Fifteenth Minute, we were introduced to Leo Trevi and given a bit of the back story about his high school girlfriend, Georgia. I am so glad we get to read more about them in Rookie Move: A Brooklyn Bruisers Novel!

In high school they were the perfect couple—until the day Georgia left Leo in the cold... Hockey player Leo Trevi has spent the last six years trying to do two things: get over the girl who broke his heart, and succeed in the NHL. But on the first day he’s called up to the newly franchised Brooklyn Bruisers, Leo gets checked on both sides, first by the team’s coach—who has a long simmering grudge, and then by the Bruisers’ sexy, icy publicist—his former girlfriend Georgia Worthington. Saying goodbye to Leo was one of the hardest things Georgia ever had to do—and saying hello again isn’t much easier. Georgia is determined to keep their relationship strictly professional, but when a press conference microphone catches Leo declaring his feelings for her, things get really personal, really fast...

"Romantic and hilarious, Rookie Move will hook you from page one. Nobody does hockey like Sarina Bowen." --Elle Kennedy, New York Times bestselling author of the Off Campus series.

Sarina is also hosting a giveaway for a signed paperback (reader's choice) and the right to name a teammate in Brooklyn Bruisers #2.

Review and Giveaway: Carey Heywood's Chasing Daylight

I've been a fan of Carey Heywood's writing since I discovered her books Him, Her (Kindle edition current free on Amazon!), and Them and the fabulous sequels (Sawyer Says and Being Neighborly). This summer I devoured (and loved) the first two books in her Carolina Days series (The Other Side of Someday and Yesterday's Half Truths). When I read that the third book in the series, Chasing Daylight, would be released this fall, I was so excited that I'd get to know Mitch, an injured vet introduced in Yesterday's Half Truths, better.

The thing I love most about Heywood's writing is her conversational tone- I really feel like a friend is telling me a story as I am reading. And although I have loved her prior work, I really feel like Chasing Daylight is, well, just MORE. In addition to the romance, which is definitely quite steamy, there's some action, suspense, hospital stays, and a charming dog named Zeus. He may be the one you list as your next Book Boyfriend, he's just that sweet. I don't want to spoil too much so I won't go too in depth in this review, but I think you'll love the story of Mitch and McKenzie's relationship. Both are dealing with traumatic pasts, although their issues are quite different.

If you haven't yet read the first two books in the series, not to worry, this can be read as a stand-alone, but if you have, you'll enjoy catching up with characters like Clay and Luke when Chasing Daylight releases on September 21. And if you haven't read them yet, you're in luck! Carey has provided me an Amazon ebook copy of each of the first two books in the series to give away!

The Other Side of Someday is Courtney and Clay's story, and Yesterday's Half Truths is about Lindsay and Luke. Courtney and Clay have somewhat of a more traditional romance, meeting each other after Lindsay has quite a disastrous morning that leaves her relationship, job, and car in shambles. Lindsay and Luke's relationship begins via the internet as Lindsay has a secret she's hesitant to reveal.

Giveaway Details:

One winner will win an Amazon ebook copy of each of the first two books in the Carolina Days series.

To enter, please visit to Facebook and "like" Carey Heywood's author page. After you have done that, come back here and leave me a comment telling me which book in the Carolina Days series you're most interested in reading (please leave your email address so I can contact you if you win). The giveaway is open to both US and international residents and will close on September 11th at midnight CST.

Winner chosen via random.org! Lyndsee!

Disclosure: I was provided with digital copies of all three books in the Carolina Days series for review purposes. Some links in this post are Amazon affiliate links.

Garnier B.B. Cream: Review and Giveaway

I was recently invited to join the BzzAgent Garnier B.B. Cream campaign, and I jumped at the chance. I have heard so much about BB creams, and have even tried (and liked!) one by Dr. Jart+ from Sephora, but at $32 for 1.7 oz, I have been watching for a more affordable option.

Say goodbye to dull skin. Banish blotchiness. And discoloration and dryness? They're done for. Thanks to new Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector B.B. Cream – an all-in-one beauty solution that renews, brightens, evens, hydrates and protects – your precious face is in the best of hands.

Short for Beauty Balm, Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector B.B. Cream combines intense hydration with tinted minerals and Vitamin C, so you can ditch that drawn-out beauty routine for naturally more even, radiant and smooth skin in minutes.

Used as often as you want to refresh your look, Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector B.B. Cream instantly delivers big results:
  • Renews radiance
  • Brightens your complexion
  • Evens skin tone and blurs imperfections
  • Hydrates for 24 hours
  • Protects against UVA & UVB rays with SPF 15
Garnier B.B. Cream is available at mass retailers (such as Target and Wal-Mart) for a suggested retail price of $12.99.

The texture of this B.B. cream is lovely- it's creamy, but not greasy. I find that it sinks right in to my skin. I use a damp foundation brush to apply it and top with a finishing powder to set.

I've noticed that a lot of B.B. creams only have one color option, but Garnier's version has two shades- Light/Medium and Medium/Deep.

I liked the product that BzzAgent sent me so much, that I purchased one to give away to a Sasha Says reader! Read on to find out how.
