New Release Review: Love Lessons by Sarina Bowen

Love LessonsLove Lessons by Sarina Bowen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I never tire of Sarina Bowen's world of Brooklyn hockey players- Bruisers, Bombshells, and their friends too. When hockey player Ian and stylist Vera at first glance don't seem suited to each other, just wait! Add in a super romantic getaway with their friends to Italy and we get fantastic witty banter, shopping sprees, and some smokin' hot love lessons for Vera from Ian. I listened to the audiobook and was super excited when I saw Joe Arden was narrating as Ian. I wasn't as familiar with Rose Dioro but am now a fan as she gave a great performance as well. Love Lessons was so enjoyable and fun!

New Release Review: Say's It's Forever by A.L. Jackson

Say It's Forever (Redemption Hills, #2)Say It's Forever by A.L. Jackson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Say It's Forever was my first A.L. Jackson read, and I really liked it. When I saw the audiobook was narrated by two of my favorites, Andi Arndt and Joe Arden, I figured it would be something I would enjoy, and I was right! Their performances were fantastic and added so much to the story. It was angsty and emotional and has some really sweet moments too (the kid characters were darling!). I'm excited to have found another author to follow!

New Audiobook Release Review: Darkroom by Kate Willoughby

DARKROOM BY KATE WILLOUGHBY

Release Date: April 26, 2021
Add to Goodreads: https://bit.ly/2KHVqI4
Cover Design: Christine Coffey

BLURB:

As a top draft pick from a family of hockey royalty, I'm under so much pressure that I’m losing my edge on the ice. I need something to snap my brain out of this self-destructive stress-loop. That’s where Indi Briscoe from my photography class comes in. She’s flirtatious and funny one moment, sweetly shy the next.

But she’s cagey. She has secrets. Also? She’s a virgin. Did I mention the pressure thing? Maybe I’m crazy for starting something with her. But we can’t seem to help ourselves...

Warning: this standalone novel contains heat, heart, familial expectations, extreme milkshakes, and a hamster with deep thoughts.

My review: 4.25 stars!

I have really been enjoying the Moo U series in Sarina Bowen's World of True North. It has introduced me to so many new authors, and narrators as well. Kate Willoughby's Darkroom was great- I want to avoid spoilers, so I will just say that the heroine, Indi, was someone I could relate to immediately. My daughter and Indi have been through a similar journey and I was excited to read Indi's story. I thought Indi and our hero Hudson had fantastic chemistry and I enjoyed seeing their journey from classmates, to friends, to lovers. Joe Arden and Victoria Mei gave excellent performances on the audiobook. Joe is of course a fan favorite, but Victoria was new to me and I enjoyed her voice very much.

Blurb:

A sexy standalone romance with a single dad you'll fall hard for!

It should be an easy rule to follow - don't bang your boss...
But I didn't know who he was when I met him.

And the first time I saw him, our connection sounded like the stuff of romantic legends -- that whole "their eyes locked across a crowded room" moment that turned into more.I didn't believe it. . . . until it happened to me.

Fine, the charming, clever, sexy-as-sin guy in the tailored suit was only trying to buy the same Snoopy lunchbox (as a gift!), but still, our eyes totally locked, and my lady parts definitely tingled as we vied for the prize.

Naturally, I did what any badass business woman would do. Negotiated for the lunchbox, then found my what-if guy online and made plans to see him the next night.
One night only -- that was the deal we made.

But one fantastic night had us both changing our minds in the morning. And making plans for another.

Until I walked into the office to learn he just bought my company.

And here's the biggest rule of romantic legends -- no matter what, don't bang your boss.
Especially if you're already falling for him.

My review: 5 stars!
Lauren Blakely never disappoints and I always enjoy diving into the worlds she creates. The characters are fun and each book has a unique premise. Logan was absolutely dreamy and Bryn is the type of character I'd love in my friend group. The What If Guy has everything- it's witty and delightful with just the right amount of heat and steam. I purchased the audiobook and was so excited to see that Andi Arndt and Joe Arden performed it duet style- that adds so much to the experience in my opinion. Santino Fontana and Emma Wilder voiced Logan and Bryn's respective cats and it was a cute addition to the story. Blakely has taken to giving readers special extras (narrator chats, bloopers etc) at the end of her audiobooks, and they are always enjoyable. The What If Guy is fantastic and definitely worth a credit!
