My review: 6+ stars!
This is probably my 4th draft on this review- I keep writing and erasing because this book is just that perfect, I am afraid anything I write won't do it justice. Emma's writing is soul reaching and all consuming. When I am in the middle of one of her books, it's all I want to do. Family, make your own dinner! Do you own laundry! 

We met Darlene in The Butterfly Project, and I'll admit I wasn't sure she could carry a whole book on her own- she was just damaged enough and had made enough bad choices in her past that although I liked her and her loyalty to her friends, I just wasn't sure she could be redeemed and be someone I would pull for, be invested in. But as usual, Emma's magical pen created a tale that was so worthy and moved Darlene up toward the top of my Favorite Emma Scott Characters List. Sawyer refers to her as a tornado, and it's quite a fitting description.

"I'm like a twisty windstorm that destroys everything I touch?"
"No, not at all... I meant, you're like this whirling ball of energy that sweeps people up so they…can't help getting caught up in you."

And Sawyer and Olivia.... gah! After the hand he has been dealt and what he has on his plate, it's no wonder he's suspect of Darlene when he meets her. Their friendship starts out born out of necessity on Sawyer's part, but is a pleasing slow-burn into romance. I spent so many pages swooning over Sawyer and his devotion to his daughter- it's so easy to forgive his gruff attitude toward Darlene in the beginning as you see their attraction to each other grow.

I assumed I'd be reading about Darlene's redemption, but it was so much more than that. It was beautiful watching Darlene see how much she was worthy of being important in someone else's life. Sigh...... I'm still a mess of tears thinking about this book! Perfection!

Note that this can be read just fine as a standalone if you haven't read The Butterfly Project.

 "Who are you?" he demanded rudely, shifting the diaper bag higher on his shoulder while hoisting his little girl in his other arm. He was six feet of hotness in a rumpled suit, glaring at me with suspicion in his dark eyes. 

"I...I'm your new neighbor?" It sounded more like a question; as if I needed this guy's permission to live. I straightened to my full height. "I just moved in upstairs. I'm a dancer. Well, I was. Had to take some time off but I'm going to get back into it soon...ish." I put on my friendliest smile. "I'm a massage therapist now. Just got my license and..."

My words died under Sawyer's withering stare.

My review: 5 stars!
Sarina just did a Shipley Farm/Brooklyn Bruisers crossover for us and it WAS FABULOUS! We met Zara in the True North series and when we last saw her, she was pregnant and keeping mum about the identity of the father. Turns out we get to meet him in Bountiful and he's a player for our favorite hockey team. What are the odds? :-)  I adored Dave and how he stepped up and was so patient with prickly Zara. Turns out Zara brings out the best in Zara and these two are SO GOOD TOGETHER.  
It was super fun to catch up with Griff and Audrey (newly married and expecting!) and Trevi, and please, Sarina, give us more Castro! Bountiful can absolutely be read as a standalone, but it's so fun to be in Sarina's world of cider and hockey, I really suggest you read them all.

Oh my goodness- this book was so full of feels! Alan was absolutely masterful at bringing comedy into an automatically angsty situation. It was charming and had perfect dialog. What an amazing friend group she created for Ellie- all believable, honest characters. A must read!

Sara Jade Alan wrote her first comedy sketch during second grade recess, then cast it, directed it, and made costumes out of garbage bags. Although I am totally new to Melissa Foster's interconnected books (see the super long list below- this book is #41!), I really enjoyed this sweet friends to lovers story. I think I might have enjoyed it more if I was more familiar with the side characters, but I still found it a satisfying read. I felt for Sally and what she had been through and appreciated her need to be be cautious about a new relationship. But Gage was quite the guy- and they had quite the chemistry. Foster writes with lots of humor and certainly a lot of heat. I am looking forward to checking out more of her work.
