After finishing the first book in the trilogy, The Difference Between Somebody and Someone, I was on the edge of my seat for the second book. With the second book, The Difference Between Somehow and Someway, author Aly Martinez crafted yet another installment that left me on the edge of my seat again! This book alternates between past and present chapters to give us some more insight about the events that led up to the first book. As I neared the end of the book, I figured Martinez would again knock my socks off with another cliffhanger, but I was not prepared for this twist. I honestly thought I knew what was coming, but I was so wrong! My anticipation is so high for book 3 and I can't wait to see how she ties it all together with a satisfying ending, as I know she will.

I am an avid romance reader and have many favorite authors, but I drop everything when Aly Martinez has a new release. Her angsty catastrophic romance novels (her description!) are my catnip!
From the Embers contains some fantastic tropes:

✔Widowed Single Mom/Successful CEO
✔Enemies-to-Friends-to-Lovers
✔Forced Proximity
✔All the Angst and Feels
I don't want to spoil anything, so let's just say that I started this before my daughter's soccer game and I'm pretty sure I rarely looked up and so I missed most of the soccer game. It's just that good. Although I know there is always going to be a twist of some sort, Martinez never fails to shock me, in such a good way. A must read!
