“Can I come in?” he asks, a new urgency in his voice. “Or are you going to be late?”

“To catch the bus?”

“I still only have fifteen minutes.”

“That’s fine.” The click of the door shutting activates guard-dog mode. Simon barks, then hustles his little wiggling body down the stairs. He rushes over immediately, whimpering and circling Ford like they’ve known each other for years.

I think of Landon. Of the times he ignored Simon. Of the other guys I dated who didn’t care, didn’t even ask to see a photo on our first dates. But Ford? He crouches down and strokes Simon’s long, soft ears with this gentle reverence that melts my heart.

“Hey there,” he murmurs. “You’re a good boy, aren’t you? A very good boy, helping your mom with the bills.”

My brain short-circuits.

My review: 5 stars!

I finished the audiobook for The Overtime Kiss and loved it so much! Narrators Teddy Hamilton and Brooke Bloomingdale performed in duet style and it was fantastic. Sabrina and Tyler's story left me with such a big smile on my face. Tyler was such a fantastic guy- sweet, protective and truly and gentleman. After Sabrina discovered her fiancée was cheating the at beginning of the book and how terribly her dad treated her for standing up for herself, I loved the family she found with Tyler and his kids. Her girlfriends are amazing too- I have enjoyed getting to know them in other books in the Love and Hockey series. This book was such a joy!

What a fantastic audiobook this was! Friends to lovers is my all-time favorite trope and author Lauren Blakely wrote such a good story for Maeve and Asher. There was so much great communication and honestly between the two characters that it felt like so real. It would read just great as a standalone, but the Love and Hockey series has been so well done and it was so nice to see appearances from couples and friends from other books. Vanessa Edwin & Robert Hatchet narrated in duet and I enjoyed their performances so much.
