New Release Review: The Perfect Sister by Stephanie DeCarolis

The Perfect SisterThe Perfect Sister by Stephanie DeCarolis
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

3.5 stars
Although I didn't feel like The Perfect Sister kept me on the edge of my seat, I still enjoyed it. I found the multiple POVs to work well with this plot, and there were some twists and turns I did not see coming. It felt slow at the start, but picked up steam pretty quickly. I did not see the ending coming and felt it was crafted well.

I am always glad to visit Sarina Bowen's World of True North and enjoyed getting to know Belle and Ty. I appreciated how the author dealt with Belle's bipolar diagnosis and found it interesting to read Belle's journey. An enjoyable read.

Blog Tour: The Roommate Agreement by Emma Hart

banner-1.jpg

Let your homeless best friend stay with you, he said. Being roommates will be fun, he said. It's only temporary, he said.

He never said I'd fall for him.

The Roommate Agreement, all-new hilarious and romantic comedy from New York Times bestselling author Emma Hart is available now!

ROOMMATEAGREEMENT-coverdraft1

You know what isn't 'temporary?' The endless stream of dirty socks in my bathroom and empty food packets under the sofa—and don't even get me started on the hot guys who take over my living room every Sunday to watch sports.
I can't take anymore.
So I propose a roommate agreement. One that will bring peace and order back to my life, complete with rules that might just stop my newfound crush on my best friend in its tracks.
After all, there’s only so many times you can see your best friend naked before you start to lose your mind.

Rules. They're meant to be broken... Aren't they?

I enjoyed this friends to lovers and roommates story. The banter was hilarious and their chemistry was both sweet and hot. It was super fun that the heroine was a romance author!

Girls' Night Out by Liz Fenton & Lisa Steinke

by Liz Fenton & Lisa Steinke

From the bestselling authors of The Good Widow comes a chilling novel of psychological suspense that will make you think twice about what your best friend may be hiding…
For estranged friends Ashley, Natalie, and Lauren, it’s time to heal the old wounds between them. Where better to repair those severed ties than on a girls’ getaway to the beautiful paradise of Tulum, Mexico? But even after they’re reunited, no one is being completely honest about the past or the secrets they’re hiding. When Ashley disappears on their girls’ night out, Natalie and Lauren have to try to piece together their hazy memories to figure out what could have happened to her, while also reconciling their feelings of guilt over their last moments together.
Was Ashley with the man she’d met only days before? Did she pack up and leave? Was she kidnapped? Or worse—could Natalie or Lauren have snapped under the weight of her own lies?
As the clock ticks, hour by hour, Natalie and Lauren’s search rushes headlong into growing suspicion and dread. Maybe their secrets run deeper and more dangerous than one of them is willing—or too afraid—to admit.

My review: 3.5 stars
Girls' Night Out is a great summer beach read. Told in the POVs of all three girlfriends, and alternating between before and after Ashley's disappearance, it's a fast paced and suspenseful tale. I felt the reveal of Ashley's fate at the end was a bit rushed, while at the same time I found the description of the climbing temple trip a bit too descriptive for my taste. Although I didn't find it to be quite as chilling as I hoped, I still enjoyed it and am looking forward to reading more from these authors.

Review: Friend Zone by Nicole Blanchard

by Nicole Blanchard
Release Date: April 23, 2018

Liam Walsh is just a roommate.

Maybe if Charlie St. James repeats it enough, she’ll stop lusting after him. Not that it matters how she feels anyway, because Liam will always see her as one of the boys. Hell, he’s the one who gave her the nickname Charlie as a joke.

Well, the joke’s on her.

Now that she is confined to less than 1,000 square feet with him, she can’t stop thinking about how it would feel to get just a little bit closer.

Charlie St. James is off limits.

She’s been Liam Walsh’s best friend since grade school. He thought it wouldn’t be a big deal to let her crash with him when she needed a place to stay, but he was dead wrong. Knowing only a thin wall separates them when they sleep, that she’s naked in the shower while he lays in bed fantasizing about her, is unbearable.

When their cozy two bedroom goes from friend zone to war zone, they’ll either burn up the sheets or go down in flames.

My review: 3.5 stars
I enjoyed this friends-to-lovers story- it was a quick read that I flew through on a road trip. It took me a bit to get into the book- I think it was around the half way mark before I found myself drawn into the story. I did find that I was interested to see how the story ended.

Review: Moonlight over Manhattan (From Manhattan With Love Series Book 6) by Sarah Morgan

From Manhattan With Love Series Book 6
by Sarah Morgan

Sarah Morgan is back with more love and laughter in her acclaimed series, From Manhattan With Love, which Publishers Weekly calls a “sweep-you-off-your-feet romantic experience.”

Determined to conquer a lifetime of shyness, Harriet Knight challenges herself to do one thing a day in December that scares her, including celebrating Christmas without her family. But when dog walker Harriet meets her newest client, exuberant spaniel Madi, she adds an extra challenge to her list—dealing with Madi’s temporary dog sitter, gruff doctor Ethan Black, and their very unexpected chemistry.

Ethan thought he was used to chaos, until he met Madi—how can one tiny dog cause such mayhem? To Ethan, the solution is simple—he will pay Harriet to share his New York apartment and provide twenty-four-hour care. But there’s nothing simple about how Harriet makes him feel.

Ethan’s kisses make Harriet shine brighter than the stars over moonlit Manhattan. But when his dog-sitting duties are over and Harriet returns to her own home, will she dare to take the biggest challenge of all—letting Ethan know he has her heart for life, not just for Christmas?

My review: 3.5 stars
I previously read and reviewed another book in the From Manhattan With Love series, which makes this the second book in the series for me. Moonlight over Manhattan was a sugary sweet time-passer. It was quite like the Hallmark and Lifetime movies that so many enjoy this time of year. Nothing too exciting, nothing too groundbreaking, just a nice, pleasant romance.

Night Games
The Storm Inside Book 6

My review: 3.5 stars
Sports romance is always going to grab my attention, and BASEBALL? My absolute favorite! Told in dual POV in both the past and the present, I found Night Games to be so engrossing. Although this is book 6 in The Storm Inside series, I was new to the series and didn't have a problem at all jumping in to the story. Wes a my favorite kind of male character, charming and witty and determined to get what he wants. I did find the time passage (just 6 weeks) to be a bit short and from time to time the jumping between past and present confused me a bit. Still, I enjoyed Night Games and plan to check out the rest of the series- book 1 is currently free!

NIGHTGAMES_3
WES

I love women and women love me.

It's not my fault I'm irresistible. Okay, I may be a little cocky too.

All I have to do is post a picture of myself shirtless with my cat, Snickers, and the women flock to me.

It probably helps that I'm good with my bat and balls.

A selfie, a smile, and I have them in bed—but never in a relationship.

Until Carrie entered the game.

She may not know it, but she owns me. And I'm not letting her go.

CARRIE

I'm a professional. No, not THAT kind of professional.

I'm an orthopedic physician for the St. Pete Mantas and my job is everything.

I love the game and I love my players … but I never fall *in* love with any of them.

Especially not players like Wes. Especially Wes.

He thinks life is one big game.

One sexy, romantic, and sometimes sweet, game that’s left me confused and little bit worried...

*I may have actually fallen for the ultimate player.*

I'll have to beat him at his own game if I have any shot at walking away with my heart intact.

About the Author:
Former archaeologist Alexis Anne (who also writes romantic suspense as Alexis Sykes) has worked as an oral historian, GIS specialist, field archaeologist, college professor, and small business owner, before deciding that working from home and writing books was a lot more satisfying. She writes steamy, sexy romance with one half of her brain and romantic suspense, action adventure, and children's books with the other half.

Growing up she traipsed through the islands of the Gulf Coast, camped in the Everglades, dove the Keys, and generally felt more at home spending her days outdoors with a good book. She currently lives in a home filled with wild men (otherwise known as her extremely extroverted husband, The Sexy Editor, and their two kids), a husky, and a superhero guinea pig.
