New Release Review: Jock Road by Sara Ney

JOCK ROAD
By Sara Ney
Release Day: Sept 5

EAT. SLEEP. FOOTBALL.

Those are Jackson Jennings, Jr’s three mantras. His entire life, he’s been a trained athlete with only one end-game: the Pro’s. No girls. No parties. No alcohol.

EAT. SLEEP. FOOTBALL.
Repeat.
Every Friday night, Triple J cruises the strip on campus, bored, lonely and conditioned not to party. But the night he meets Charlotte Edmonds on the side of the road, he wonders if his three mantras will ever be enough.

BIG. DUMB. JOCK.
Charlie has no time for Jackson’s antics. Not when he’s stealing her food or teases her to no end, making her tingle in all the right places. But if she’s ever going to have a boyfriend, she’d choose one who isn’t a Neanderthal. One with manners and actual time to spend with her. Not a hulking man-child who cruises the strip at night, in his Big. Dumb. Truck.

My review: 5 stars!

Wow! Let me tell you about the smile I had on my face the entire time I read this book! I'll tell you why: Jock Road reminded me so much of my courtship with my college football player husband (who was also a receiver like Triple J)! Memories....  At any rate, I pink puffy heart Jackson and Charlie so much. Their banter was so hilarious and their awkwardness was so adorable.
"You look..." Nice. Gorgeous. Great. Fantastic. Breathtaking. "Fine."
A low laugh escapes her lips, as if she's taking pity on how pathetic I am.
"Thanks. You also look.... fine."
So cute. And so real. Ney knows how to write the spark and the wit. Such a fun meet-cute. As an Okie I can say that she nailed Jackson's southern accent.

I loved when they (separately) started to realize how much they liked each other.
Not to mention, when he leaned in close and got up in there... he smelled fantastic. Like cologne and shampoo and a bit dirty, like he'd showered but not that well? As if he'd rushed through it, had been so sweaty from working out he couldn't be bothered to wash it all down the drain.
Like man. A hard-working man who cares more about getting shit done than smelling good doing it.
The whole Jock Hard series is fantastic really- all books can be read as complete standalones. Jock Road absolutely scored for me- I loved it!
